cool comparison... and the more i think of it: yes. it does what ubuntu aims for: take the best technology available from the free software world and re-package it in a consumer-friendly way.

Remember when Nokia N800 was launched, the browser from 2007 OS sucked, and then after OS 2008 4.2 there was a huge difference in speed and rendering. Same will eventually happen here with Maemo 5. After 5-7 months Nokia will release firmware upgrades and the whole OS with the browser should be improved. Because lets face it the browser on Nokia 900 isn't looking all that good right now.

MicroB/Fennec will be most likely quite fast on a Cortex A8. Also remember that the engine is now updated.

What? No.

Safari is based on WebKit
Mozilla browsers are based on Gecko.

It's called a layout engine.

Hopefully this will be the last Beta before they hit RC builds.

Do we know if Fennec will be the final name? Because it were some rumors that the final build will be renamed to "Firefox Mobile".

Another rumor is when Fennec hit final, Nokia will replace its own Mozilla based N900 browser with this.

I hope they manage at least some version of flash support. Would be a real treat if its the latest 10.1

Firefox Mobile is the official name; the release schedule has been offically noted, but specific targets (from my recollection towards beta nad RC builds) hasn't.
