I work in IT, have programmed in C++. C#, Java (and all the way back to COBOL and Fortran but don't hold that against me) and some Python although these days I am more a database geek.

Hi all!
Just registered as a new community member and this is my first post.
I'm from Italy and I'm a software developer.
The N900/maemo will be my first smartphone/mobile computer so I decided to join the community hoping to learn and being useful.

Hi,
Nice to meet you.
I would like to take part of Maemo things and be part of community. I'm java coder and gadget geek. Nowsays working for Nokia as IT Manager, but not directly with Maemo - so I cannot give any insights or so...
But I'm waiting N900 to come out and I'll try to get it somehow. And maybe start testing / reporting bugs... Maybe, but just maybe I would like to start coding python or C++, but let's see...
Cheers,
Jux.

New to this forum, California, SF Bay Area - although Irish by birth.
I've owned the following phones:
Nokia 7710, 9300, N73, N75
iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and currently use an N97
I also owned an IT 770 and, still own, an N800
I've ordered an N900
I work in IT, have programmed in C++. C#, Java (and all the way back to COBOL and Fortran but don't hold that against me) and some Python although these days I am more a database geek.
Will be glad to get back to a Maemo platform and the N900 seems like it gets rid of some of the N800 shortcomings.
For now, I'll just be browsing the forums to see what's coming.

I'm already jealous. COBOL and Fortran? You're a real geek, which gives you celebrity status around here.
