Hello I just wanted to try maemo but it seems I am unable to do it, I cannot install the nokia binaries.
I edited the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/maemo5.0_scratchbox.list file, added the
    deb http://repository.maemo.org/ fremantle .............
what I got after agreeing the license.
started the scracthbox an update seems to work but after the nokia packeges are not found
Did I edited the right file?

I think you just should add the repository to /etc/apt/sources.list

There's a manual out there for a good reason:
    http://maemo.org/development/sdks/ma..._installation/ :-)

    Hello Laco.

I got the same problem and I don't know if found a solution. The manual seems to be very clear but the problem still persists. That's what I did:

    Login the scratchbox ...
Accept the EULA and copy the repository link ...
Add the nokia repository link to the sources.list ...
    apt-get update ...
    fakeroot apt-get install nokia-binaries ...

And finally I got the same error message. E:Couldn't find package nokia-binaries. It seems the process is unable to find the repository I just added to the sources.list file

    żAny idea? Best regards

    A couple things --
    1. the Nokia Binaries link must be added to the sources list INSIDE the scratchbox.
    2. Make sure you copy the Whole url including the alpha-numberic code that is at the end of the url.

    It should look like:
    Code:
    deb http://repository.maemo.org/ fremantle/<SOME CODE>
    like
    deb http://repository.maemo.org/ fremantle/az45sawe3d3f
(Please note the above code is not valid. it is bogus, so don't bother trying it)

    Nathan.

Before you run apt-get update you need to change the source.list that is inside the scratchbox, not your host operating system. For example:

    Code:
    [sbox-FREMANTLE_<X86/ARMEL>: ~] vi /etc/apt/source.list
Do this for both the x86 and the ARMEL scratchboxes.

    Oh ok it's not:
    [sbox-FREMANTLE_<X86/ARMEL>: ~] vi /etc/apt/source.list
    but
    [sbox-FREMANTLE_<X86/ARMEL>: ~] vi /etc/apt/sources.list
    That's ok for me now.
    thanks

    Hi all,

I hope I can use this thread to ask a similar question as well.
When I executed this command below:

    $ sudo ./maemo-scratchbox-install_5.0.sh -u USER

Do I have to create a new user in my ubuntu first?
I found the documentation said: [Clarification needed: it's not clear to a first-timer whether this should be an existing user name from the host linux system, or a new user name for use only inside the scratchbox environment.]

    Thank you,
    Adhika

The "USER" has to be a valid user on your host system, where you are running scratchbox. You don't have to create a new one, but you could use the one you already have.

    Cheers Daniel

Edit: I've updated the documentation as well

Hi Daniel, Thanks a lot for the reply.

Btw yesterday I managed to play around with the desktop.
My Graphic Card is only an Intel graphic card, can this explains why I feel it really slow while moving the desktop?

    Thank you,
    Adhika
