I am not trying to steal the thread, but, does any one know what the cheapest plan for connecting would be in NYC via T-mobile? I have a v3 RAZR and no internet plan yet.
Internet Plan and Voice Plan are really two different things. I had a T Mobile $29.99 'Voice Plan' till last month. I could use my Nokia 770 and my ( then Nokia 3650 ) phone, to get on to the Internet easily with this. Please see that I have mentioned that I had a Voice Plan only.

I do not know how you will get the Nokia 770 to recognize and pair with the Samsung T509 ( surely, there is some kind of hack mentioned in this Forum somewhere ). As I mentioned before I use my Nokia 770 IT recognized and paired with my Nokia 6682 phone. I can get to the Internet when no Wi-Fi is available. I have not subscribed to any extra Web / Data plan. At present, I use the simple 600 Minutes / $ 39.99 T-Mobile plan. This is strictly a regular Voice Plan with no involvement of any kind of ' Total Internet Plan ', a Data Plan and all that.
I am sure that once you figure out how to get you Samsung T509 and the Nokia 770 / N800 recognize and pair with each other, you will be able to do the surf the Net without paying anything extra for any Web / Data Plan.
Update:
Try to see if the folowing works for you. This is from a post by a gentleman named " Historian ", on this Forum. You can also search for ' Samsung T509 ', to get more information about this.
From ' Historians ' post :-
Access point name: wap.voicestream.com
Dial-up number: *99#
User name: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Click the [advanced] and check "Use Proxy"
HTTP Proxy: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
HTTPS Proxy: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
I did use such settings ( under the Advanced Tab ) before, with my ' dear discarded ' Nokia 3650 Phone. But now I find that I can connect without all this and without the extra $5.99 T-Mobile Web plan.

Arjun,
I did set up my T-Mobile T-509 with the settings you quoted from Historian.
I am connected to the phone via Bluetooth but am not able to use the phone as a modem. I only have a voice plan.
What settings did you put into your 770 which allow you to use your phone as a modem with a voice only plan?
Thanks,
Neil

Ajun,
thanks for your reply. Used your settings with no luck. Connection manager shows that I am connected to the phone with data being transferred and received. The 770 then gives me an error box called "File Download" which states: "File type: blah blah, File size: blah blah, Location: blah blah (the web address I am trying to connect to), Open with: no application to open with"
Quick question:
when exactly in the process of trying to connect do you dial the *99# on the phone? Whenever I dial it, I get a message stating "Please wait, network activity" followed by a message that says "unable to process request"
anyone have any ideas?
Neil

The *99# " is not a number that we dial personally. It is the part of the DUN setting used by Internet Tablets.
Anyways, I have a question for you. Using your Samsung T-509 phone can you go to the T-Mobile Website ( T-Zones and all that) ? If this is affirmative then I will still say that something is not being setup right somewhere. Also, initially when I configured the Nokia 770 to acces Internet ( via Bluetooth DUN) I do not set up T-Mobile as my service provider. I simply decided to go with ' no service provider ' option.![]()

Ajun,
I can indeed get to T-Zones on my phone (I only have a voice plan, though, I do not pay the $5.95/mo for web).
Can you tell me how you access the setup screen on the 770 that allows you to set up T-Mobile as service provider, or, in this case, set up the "no service provider" option?
thanks so much,
Neil
This is an option that you get the first time that you are about to configure your IT. In this option you can either select a Service Provider or not select any. As for me, whenever I flashed my Nokia 770 with newer OS Builds, I never bothered to select T-Mobile as my Service Provider.

Recently I upgraded to a $39.99 'Voice Plan' (changed my phone as well, to a Nokia 6682 ) and I can still get to the Internet the same way.
So, I think that if you can pair you v3 RAZR phone to the Nokia IT and then configure the DUN on this setup, you can get to the Internet with a simple 'Voice Plan'. Remember that the time allotted to you by the Voice Plan that you subscribe to, will be used up while you surf the Internet using the Phone as a Bluetooth tethered Modem.
. So if i sign up for the basic TMobileWeb should that get past the talk time usage? If so that would be worth it.
