Is there any special kernel or binary modules that i have to use? What's the hardware support status for n900?

Welcome to the ecosystem!

Your kernel on N900 will be http://repository.maemo.org/pool/mae...free/k/kernel/ and you can dual-boot through bootmenu (final release TBA when final SW image is out).

You will need to have some kind of watchdog handling as well.
