I acknowledged no such thing. The "I'm going to hell" is a common rhetorical device...not a literal admission of guilt.

Not so fast, someone using the word "culpable", and "going to hell", sound to me like maybe you've attended some church or catholic school.
Either way, stating "I'm going to hell" after your statement shows you know what you were saying was not acceptable.
Seems like a complete admission of guilt to me.
