As I say above, if a developer feels hard done by, email Quim & CC the council explaining their position. Extrapolation, wailing and gnashing of teeth on tmo by people other than those developers isn't helpful. At best, it's misplaced altruism. At worst, it's FUD; as people will think that there are developers who feel left out and are going to storm off from Maemo development.
I understand what you are saying. But I would totally disagree with your statement about gnashing of teeth by other developers. I'm normally the last person to step forward and say I feel wronged. Most of my Developer co-workers are the same way. Maybe I work with a weird group of people; but my "experience" over the last 20 years has been most developers are not interested in creating waves over themselves. Some may contact Quim//CC since you have proposed that. But I know if it was my shoes I wouldn't, that just seems petty to me -- Me complaining about me not getting a device... Yeah, right, wouldn't happen in a million years. It would be _much_ better if Quim/CC approached those devs they saw fell in the cracks. (See above post for potential solution)
For those who might have saw it a FUD. It wasn't meant to be -- it was meant to address a issue I saw. I'm sorry Andrew if you disagree with my complaints and my potential solutions but we all have I hope equal rights here to spout our own nonsense. ;-D
Now I know what that thread about this site not being user friendly meant
Even I do not have any idea how to find my way around maemo.org. That's really weird.
If I can't even find my way around the site (or collection of sites), I guess I have no business asking what my karma is... but still, I'd like to know.
Sorry, we (I speak as a collective we) have started to integrate stuff between separate sites. Talk.maemo.org used to be a third party site called InternetTableTalk.com (ITT) and was recently integrated with the Maemo.org domains. One of the things on the list of todo items is to get single signon. But right now most the sites have separate logins and accounts. If all you have is a Talk account; then going to "www.maemo.org" and trying to login won't work. If you create your own "www.maemo.org" account you can link it to your "talk" account. Then the next time Karma stats are generated it will have your stats. For instance. On Talk I'm known as "nathan" but on the main domain my account is "nathanael". Eventually we will get single-sign on and one account. ;-)

What is the difference between "www.maemo.org" and "garage.maemo.org"? Will my garage.maemo.org account allow me to log in to "the main site"? (It doesn't seem to...)
I tried to create a "www.maemo.org" account and I ended up with a garage.maemo.org account. But that account will not allow me to log in to the page from which I originally clicked the "register" button.
Something I'd like to point out to the people who are upset that "mere forum posters" are getting invites, while some developers are not. I sort of hinted at this in my other message, but posting a lot to the forums indicates a high level of community participation and enthusiasm... which is one way to indicate "evangelists". (not perfect, but workable)
Without diminishing the value of developers (because a healthy app eco-system is vital to the success of any platform), you can't diminish the value of evangelists, either. Evangelists are the ones who get the word out, who get people who weren't already considering or thinking about the platform to start thinking about it and considering it.
I think that's valuable. And I think that those people (whether I'm considered one, or not) deserve some of the candy too.

OK, question: I had a lot of fun from creating Open Source projects in the past (like Gammu) and I'm interested in N900 (yes, it can be better than Android). I was not in the Summit (time, money and a lot of other things). I'm registed on "talk" only. SDK doesn't allow for creating Bluetooth connecting application (at least I haven't found method). I haven't have access to prototype (no friends journalists). I don't live in Finland and I can't apply my CV for Maemo team (I'm not ready for moving to Finland in this moment too).
Where can I get N900 ?
I don't need manual, charger, USB cable, memory card, nice box. What can be price for device only ?
Seeing how this thread has turned out to be yet another "Nokia: You suck" thread, how you're all getting ****ed over by the Karma system (boohoo) and my two legit questions have gone unanswered, off I go to register my fake company details with Nokia.
And if the offer does expire, well, it's not like I don't have a device for a year (thank you Nokia for your generosity then, as well) so it certainly won't be my time that is wasted.
