If I let my Opera 10 log in automatically on this site, my password is shown for a while in plain text. On all other pages I've ever used this function it's always hidden.

on t.m.o when i type in my password on IE8 its not hidden its just plain text like the person above reports. i will make a screenshot later to show you

I see the problem. The problem here is it looks like other browsers don't support changing the input field type dynamically, such as:
I've changed the input field to type 'password' (same as with the other parts of the site) and it should be fixed now. No need to file a bug.

It is a regular input field but the 'type' attribute of the input field determines if it is cleartext or '*'. The main problem with the maemo.org theme is there are no 'Username' and 'Password' labels on the login fields at the top, so javascript is used to put 'Username' and 'Password' values on those fields so they become meaningful for the user.
Since it seems like other browsers don't support dynamically changing the type of input fields from 'text' to 'password' and vise-versa, I have changed the type of the field to of type 'password' so no javascript manipulation is needed.

i had just filled out a bug report, good job i looked back here before hitting commit button.
the password as been viewable in plain text for me since the day i joined, just i never bothered to say anything as i presumed it was same for everyone and it maybe was already a known issue.
nice to see its fixed now though, next time i spot something i'll be sure not to presume things in future and i'll report it no matter how trivial or obvious it may seem
