Hi Maemos!

What email app is recommended to be used on an ubuntu desktop to sync info with N900?

Am currently using Thunderbird for email with Ubuntu 9.04 on my laptop and desktop pc. Am syncing them with Unison. That worked for some years good for me, but am not tied to Thunderbird.

As (hopefully) soon to be N900 owner I want to use N900 for answering email on the go, and possibly want to stay in sync with my laptop / desktop. Have no IMAP on my email account and can not change to that (need to be able to read and write while offline). I like the feature of having email / sms / facebook messages sorted in one thread by date / topic. It would be great to have similar on desktop.

Any advice?

I don't know about the email client on Maemo 5, but certainly on the desktop, IMAP doesn't mean you can't have offline access to your email. Thunderbird, for example, can be set to download certain folders for offline use - the master copy is on the IMAP server, but the desktop has a cached version that can be read while offline. And you can compose replies and send them when you get back online.

As I say though, I don't know if Maemo 5 Modest allows similar offline IMAP usage.
