Maybe your iron intake is higher than most women. Do you fancy a good piece of red meat?

And the funniest thing about this is that the HTC HD2 still is more expensive than the N900!

So it's true after all that it's smart to be well informed!
i never said that n900 is not a good phone but for those who r buying this as a gps those should not buy this because the compass is missing . i too love n900 but it is not made for me i will wait for n950 and i hope n950 will be the market leader like n95

I dont see the big deal with the compas.

It is not necessary. So long as there is voice guided nav soon, the compas is just show off toy type tool.

You shold be able to tell e-w-n-s with vision of the sky and shadows.

It isn't meant to be a good phone. GSM/voice/phone is not its primary purpose; its one of the many features which is why the term smartphone is misleading.

Furthermore, GPS is a technology not a target purpose. Navigation is a target purpose.

Many electronic navigation systems don't have a digital compass. Most TTom products don't have one, yet TToms sell like cupcakes, and arguably worked and work quite well 'even' without digital compass. If a digital compass is a requirement for a good functioning electronic navigation system we'd have seen all major electronic navigation system manufacturers use this technology, or their products would not sell, or only with many complaints. Fortunately, such is not the case.

Digital compass is mostly interesting for augmented reality but there are currently not many applications using this as target purpose. Eventually, this will change, given digital compass new thing, this is also a chicken/egg problem.

Except for the fact that several reviews have already said that even without the digital compass the GPS is capable of figuring out what direction you are heading within only a few steps. Which means the lack of a digital compass it is a very stupid reason to cancel the n900. Oh well more for the rest of us - *stewie voice on* Have fun with that hot ... hot ... windows mobile" *stewie voice off*

Yep. GPS orientates to you and your direction.

I used my digital compass one time in the thirteen months I have had the G1, but use GPS a lot.

Buy a real compass, they work better and are not biased by other internal electronics like phone ones are. Landnav course plus phone compass equals two miles off from planned destination
