I just started a petition to convince Nokia to supply the N900 to the current developers in extras-development so that they can test the device in real life.

There are plenty of great reviewers without a device, not just him. I do think Nokia needs a better relationship with its supporters. I don't think they fully grasp how many advanced power users and hackers from the Symbian community would embrace Maemo. Its inevitable, since Symbian needs to be secure, yet some people like to hack and mod stuff to make them their own.

I think that this 'effort' should be squashed.

Nokia are right to have an extremely conservative policy wrt 'free' devices. They took an extremely generous step forward with the 300 summit devices - but these were people that had been vetted....and are now providing valuable feedback.

Expanding access to free devices is a recipe for a tar pit of freeloaders.
