Looks like with little effort you can use Plasma widgets with Qt 4.6:
So I was going to request a Woot.com widget, with a configurable update threshold but it looks like one of the Red Fruit dashboard widgets already does this. Maybe someone can confirm it is HTML-based and thus can be Plasmasized and made to run on the N900?
Yes, I know, it's a website you can view since the N900 is always on, but it's nice to catch the current Woot at a glance, and during Woot-offs having something continuously updated frequently would be terrific.
I already started a brainstorm idea for it:
a run-a-script widget were you are able to define output (within widget, windowed, fullscreen and its size if not fullscreen) if there will be asked for input, cron like setup for updating if needed, dialog for file or direct script input http://maemo.org/community/brainstor...desktop_output
Doesn't the camera application start when you open the lens cover (the above was my initial flashlight thought as well but couldn't think of how it would coexist naturally with the camera app)?
Maybe. But: If you tip on the widget to start the light, the app could test, whether the lens cover is open (sounds like there is a such a sensor) and only enable the light, if it's open and prevent the camera app to start.
- GtkMozEmbed is portable and has halfway proper API, but doesn't pan
- microb-eal, neteal have confusing, propritary API and also don't pan
- BrowserRespView seems to pan, but its API is insulting
