I have a fw dvds I'd like to transfer to the n900. Can some tell me how best to do that? Is there a recommended software? bitrate? How should it be done?

And how big a file would I end up with if I had an hour of video?

Can someone explain in simple terms for a bear of very little brain, please.

You always could rip it yourself but the problem is that the DVD's have CSS copy-protection and breaking it requires lot's of hacking or payware software, so the easiest way is always just to use some other alternative way to acquire the video files. A DVD is usually 700MB in size if compressed with MPEG-4 and bitrate ~1000kbps (?).

The vid I have in mind doesn't have any copy protection, I'm pretty sure. It's a rather obscure locally produced item, but I find it incredibly useful for calming in stressful situations! I just don't think I have and dvd ripping software, never having done that before.

Thanks for the answer: 700mb is quite a pile, though I think this one is nly about an hour.
