I do not know about y'all but I always put screen protectors on and keep my devices away from my keys. Heck, I already have a screen protector for my pre-ordered n900 so that it is ready to be put on right after first boot; after the n900 gets here that is :-D.
I already had an iphone and now I’m using a Nokia 5800 and I definitely prefer resistitive technology.
N900 will be my future phone.
You're the first I've heard say this besides me! I like the more precise selection of objects the most. What makes resistive best for you?
The scratch issue is pretty simple. I had the N97, and it wasn't easy to scratch. I used my sharp switchblade as a stylus sometimes with dirty fingers, and it never had any major scratches. I do recommend a screen protector, mainly because of the high cost of the device. But like others have said, its not noticeable unless using flash in a photo. If you read all of the reviews, you hear "fears" of scratches, but few real issues.
It's not even hard to see that the n900 is already scratched alot =(
it might be worth adding he had a very early prototype not even meant for the hands of bloggers and reviewers, it was not even directly from Nokia it was a leaked device, there could of been changes made since then.
its best to ask the people who was lucky enough to get one of the 300 from the summit as I believe they was final hardware versions running pre-production software so they will give a better indication of how the device is now

me and my wife both have 810's and use them everyday with NO screen protector ever and there zero scratches like those shown on that picture showing the 810 and 800 and n900. I do not have a n900 but this guy clearly has some issue where he presses WAY to hard with the stylus, or has some diamond tipped stylus or something. Not normal usage in my book?
I reverse iPhone-fingered a G2 at FLS. I really hate capacitive.
You, too? I feel vindicated now. I'm a self admitted iPhone hater. I realize its simple and easy, but so was S40, which I graduated from long ago. The iPhone isn't precise, and it detects any touch, which can be annoying. I just want resistive to be more sensitive, and if the N900 is better than the N97, I'm sold. The N97 was a dang good display, imo. Not sure why everyone thinks everything must be capacitive. Just like everyone thinks anything with a turbo is faster than a normally aspirated engine. Just another method to skin a cat. In the end, you still see cat guts, and that's all I care about.
