Hey pal, why dont you buy a iphone and a latte and go to spend the entire day at a starbucks just posing around? maybe you will even meet a partner there to complain about other things like... women in bikinis and so on...
I don't troll and only "complain" to hear what other people think, how they will deal with the problem and if there are any solutions.

I just want to make sure I don't buy something that didn't live up to my expectations and then have to live with it while I could have bought a better product. That's not trolling.. thats common sceptic comsumer behavior man...

And I would never buy an iPhone... or latte :P

I think that we should stop reply to the people that use titles like:
    Screen = dealbreaker
They are not interested in developing maemo. Probably they are paid by apple or google…
    That’s my last one.

    Except there isn't a problem.

You have trawled through an otherwise glowing review (one of the most upbeat out there) and picked out the one and only possible negative made in it. Then you have studiously ignored the reviewer's own admissions that a) the device he had was not final hardware let alone firmware (and wasn't even obtained legitimately) and b) he subjected it to inappropriate treatment. Heck, any intelligent person (even a teddy bear!) knows better than to mix sensitive electronic devices with sand.

That doesn't sound like you are doing 'proper pre-purchase research' - not least as you're ignoring the many posts on here that have said people have had no trouble with the screen at all, and anyway there are screenprotectors available if you're worried. That sounds like you're here to wind people up.

And you know what? Nokia are doing a bang up job of winding people round here up without your help, thanks.

I actually agreed with the dealbreaker thingy. The screen is really bad if NOKIA do not bundle a free screen protector with the package. Even a phone without touch screen got scratched really bad. This device is touched and not capacitive as well, so it would scratch more than usual. SO PLEASE NOKIA GIVE US FREE SCREEN PROTECTOR....WE NEED IT.

I've got lots of devices with screens, and I have screen protectors on some of them. But I've had many of them for years, with no screen protector (including the N800), because I don't need any. Why would I then want one included? It would increase the cost for the rest of us. If you need one, fine, you can easily get one for yourself. They're cheap from Brando, for example.

From my side I'll buy (and use) and it is "Made for N900": http://www.nokia.pl/produkty/akcesor...nia-nokia-n900 Link to Polish shop, but you can find it in your local Nokia Shop.

I use N810 with the default one and screen protector. It is very god thing, it should be in N900 box.

Unless you plan on bundling it with keys in your pocket, the N900 screen is pretty sturdy. It's much more sensitive to the touch than the N8x0 was, so you won't be pushing on it nearly as hard (regardless of finger or stylus). The are where a screen protector would come in handy is a grease repellant, as the N900 screen is a fingerprint magnet.

Glad to see that things haven't changed here on TMO in the last week. Still yet more people generating FUD for nothing.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: My N900 is in my pocket with me at ALL times. There is nothing in that pocket (because I'm not an idiot) and I also make sure there's no grains of anything in that pocket anyways. It's been about two months of heavy use and I do not have a single scratch yet. The whole "screen got scratched" complaint comes down to that person not knowing how to take care of his ****, plain and simple.

    Enough already.

In the end... when we finally look at all the useless junk we bought, imho screen protectors will be right up their with those cell phone "antenna booster" stickers they used to sell and credit default swaps.

Never had one, never will... and I use a ball point pen as a stylus some times ... the ink left behind comes right off with an alcohol pad.

Actually, I would argue that it should be installed on the N900 out of the factory. It's a heck of a lot easier for the factory to accurately install a screen protector in a clean environment with no trapped dirt or bubbles. It's also easy for someone who understands the advantages and disadvantages of screen protectors to remove it if they want to.
