I am still on the lookout for a good leather case for the N900. Here is what I am looking for:

- A horizontal leather case with a good belt clip, I may prefer belt loops to prevent accidental drops. (I don't think I am interested in removable belt clips for this device.)

- The leather case should allow access to the headphones plug, and maybe for the button next to that. (What is that button for again?)

- I think I prefer a button clip rather than a magnetic closure, but I am not sure.

One thing I have discovered is that many cases made for the Palm Treo 600s and 700s will work well with the N900. These are the dimensions of some of those devices:

N900:
4.37 x 2.35 x .77 in (110.9 x 59.8 x 18 mm)

Treo 600:
4.41" x 2.36" x 0.87" (112 x 60 x 22.1 mm)

Treo 700:
4.4" x 2.3" x 0.9" (112 x 58 x 22.9 mm)

Treo 750:
4.37" x 2.28" x 0.87" (111 x 58 x 22.1 mm)

Notice that the N900 is just a tad slimmer that all of those devices. (Shame, shame, to those calling the N900 "chunky" )

Here is an example of a case that would work well with the N900, but it is a little pricey.

I think I am going to wait to see if I find something better, if not I may get this one. What do you guys think?

That's the lock slider.

Is there a button that can silence the phone when ringing? Easy access to that would be important.

Turn it face down.

are there any purpose designed latch points on the n900 frame, i.e. so slimline protective cases can grip onto each side of the n900 without inhibiting the slider mechanism?

i ask because i want an otterbox style protective case that won't stop me using the keyboard, possibly like this device:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/GreyMobiles-...7438965&sr=1-7

but i have no idea how it is fastened to the n900 securely enough that it won't just fall off................. unless nokia left some 'latch' points that screen protectors can just 'click' into.

any ideas?

That would require either taking it out of the case or throwing myself to the ground. Neither option is appealing.

i wonder if that's a proximity sensor thing or a accelerametor thing. if it's proximity sensor you could just block it.

I didn't think about *that* scenario. My phone is usually on my desk, so... you gave me a good chuckle.

I don't have mine (yet) - so I can't tell you if there's another easy way to mute it.
