According to the maemo-hackers blog:
"January 23, 2007: N800 has been out for a few weeks now. maemo-hackers.org will try to support both 770 and N800 where applicable, but most of the programs haven’t been tested w/ N800, currently the bora side of the repo only contains osso-xterm (and dependencies) and a dropbear package (I like my ssh client to be available as ssh). Some of the packages in bora distribution may actually be compiled with mistral roostrap (if the version doesn’t contain the word bora), if it doesn’t introduce any extraneous dependencies. I’m working towards making the repository self sufficient."

Poking around http://maemo-hackers.org/apt/dists/bora/main, I don't see any maemo-game packages listed in the package list, although I do see it in the mistral package list.

So from what I can tell, maemo-hackers have NOT yet ported gaim to the N800.

GAIM works on Nokia N800 and Nokia 770.

Please search this Forum and you will see many posts in affirmative to this aspect. It is simply the prolonged process of configuring it to work that is the issue.

Good job Tabs,

Hopefully now, people can install Gaim easily on either of the ITs.

I'll try adding the minstral repositories. If the packages work, I guess the maemo-hackers people should be notified, and the packages should be copied to the proper bora repository. It seems a little scary to add the repository for a previous OS release. Thanks for all the tips, folks.

I really like maemo gaim, but its so unpolished. Has anyone been updating it at all? Would be sweet if it was as clean as the inbuilt google client. I feel like i shouldn't whine since im no developer, but it feels so clunky to use at times

I hate to say it - but Gaim is pretty unpolished on Windows, Linux & Solaris too. But once you figure out its quirks, it works pretty good.

I agree. I just added them to get Gaim to work as I didn't want to wait for it to be available in bora.

I would not recommend anyone to install other apps from the minstral catalogs.
