I talked to a few people... They called Dell and ordered over the phone. They were able to apply the discount over the phone. The chat will be useless.

    GOOD LUCK!!

I was able to get mine in earlier. I have NOT canceled my Amazon order, just in case something happens here. At the very least, I know I can return the one I ordered from Amazon if it does end up shipping before Dell.

Personally, I think it will go through. I've had wacky deals go through before with Dell (the NEC LT150 projector years ago...)

If you call them over the phone about using the small business path then do they ask you what's your small business? o.O

how can supplies be gone on an item that is a pre-order? There are none in stock yet anyway. It has not even been introduced to the market by the manufacturer yet, so there were no "supplies" earlier today when others ordered and there are none now. It is a preorder. Please look into it further. Thanks.

its not a pre- order, we had some in stock and now we don't and they are backordered thru Nokia

I'm sorry, if you look at the title of the item in the Dell store, it clearly says, "(Pre-Order) N900 Unlocked Smartphone". Furthermore, I have been following this item closely and I am sure Dell does not have it in stock today. Please investigate this problem further. It must be an error.

I will let them know about this, Anything else I can help with?

Well, I would like to purchase the item with the coupon now. Can you help me do that?
    07:23:07 PM Agent SMB_Sandra_Holcomb
I have the same options you do, so if you can't get the coupon to work when you enter it I can not either.
    07:23:41 PM Customer MountainX
OK, can you have someone who can help contact me directly? Thank you.

If I can't then no one can, we all have the same system,

    The session has ended!
I called. The rep I spoke to confirmed to me that the call center has been flooded with requests for this coupon code. I summarize what he told me to mean that Dell received unexpectedly high demand for this phone with this coupon and decided to stop honoring the coupon. Personally, I think that is unethical.

The rep told me that if he forced my order through, it would likely be canceled. So that implies (to me) that all these Dell orders with this coupon are questionable - they could be canceled.

Ouch, sorry if they do cancel it for everyone. I wonder what the MSRP is. I know for example, it's not that the mark up on the iPhone is obscene but the parts in the n900 probably cost more than the parts for an iPhone. So I have a feeling if Dell does cancel the orders its because either they would get little out of selling it (think about it, they could easily cancel all those orders with coupons and still get tons of people to buy the n900 from them at the $519 price since it is lower than Amazon and Newegg pre-tax).

I wonder what the n900's MSRP is =P

I agree... The problem we face is if Newegg is selling it for $559, gross margin cannot be more than 10% ...imho With that in mind, these companies would be buying it wholesale for no less than $500... a $60 loss in Dell's books (plus shipping)... It doesn't look good for us... Here's to hope!! I cancelled my Newegg order, I'd hate to have to "get back in line"...

I think from talking to dell you people who already ordered will be fine. The $442 is actually under their wholesale cost and was only for a limited # of phones so that's why when you try the coupon now it wont go thru. Congrats on those that got the deal!

Interesting, so their whole sale cost for the n900 is between 442 and 519. *plays the more you know music*
