The N810 screen in more readable in daylight. Its slightly smaller , but much more pocketable than the N800. There are sites and apps that do not play nice with the OSK so the keyboard does help from time to time. I seem to get better battery life on standby mode on the N810.

The N800 D-Pad is MUCH better. The two sd card slots are nice.

thanks for all the replies everyone
i'm still welcome to more opinions but I also have an additional question(s)

Should I wait for the n900 to come out before buying one? Do you think there'll be a drop in the price?

Yes. I've always found that it's much easier to buy an item after they have come out.

@ Tintin
thanks for the sarcasm.

Yes the N800s and N810s should go down in price but keep in mind, ones in great condition are in short supply...(especially difficult to find one with all original accessories)

If it was true that as some say they both run at the same speed, I would prefer the N800. The fact is, they don't; the N810 is clearly faster. You are absolutely right, it makes no sense for someone to say that the two are virtually identical and yet they prefer the N810 even though the N800 is much less expensive.

I strongly disagree that the browsing speed of both is the same. I use Tear on both; I use all the same software on both. I prefer the slightly bigger screen size of the N800 (the last time I said that, a bunch of people quickly put me down and said that the screen size was identical, until Texrat intervened and said the N800 screen size was bigger.)

If you believe them, you should clearly get the N800, unless you want a crappy keyboard and not that great GPS or you care about the smaller size of the N810.

The logic is all on the side of the N800 unless the N810 is faster, and people who bought the N810 at a premium are fools.

There are still some Nokia shops that have boxed new tablets available. Might be worth buying one from there to gain the warranty too. Suspect only old stock now though.

Clearly you are a passionate supporter of the N800. Whether the keyboard is crap or not though is surely a matter of personal choice? Technically it's very reliable so all that remains is whether you get on with it in preference to the on screen one.

If you prefer your external GPS unit then use one with the N810 too, it works just fine.

As for 'The logic is on the side of the N800...' that would again depend on your own perspective and needs.

I have the two machines side by side, and yes the N800 screen is bigger, but only by a matter of a handful of mm, to all intents and purposes it's the same. A screen protector for an N800 fitted my N810 almost perfectly

When I decided to buy an N810 (very cheap new just over £100), the intention was to use it for mapping, GPS caching, and carman and keep the N800 for media. I now more or less use the N810 all the time.

If you want a NIT for media, MP3, video etc and want lots of space buy an N800, otherwise I would recommend an N810. However if you have the cash, and expect a lot from your NIT, and can cope with a significantly smaller screen then wait and buy a N900 when they come on sale.

The powermanagement is better (which is why the N810 may be faster occasionally with better clock management), the device is more refined I think than the N800. The keyboard and GPS work great for me. If I had the cash, I would order one yesterday.

The biggest disappointment for me about the N810 was the screen. I was expecting it to be much better in daylight than it is. It's a bit better than the N800, but for me not by much.

I have an N800 - And I wish I got the N810. I don't care how mushy or hard I have to press the keys, not having the keyboard and having the use the software keyboard sucks. Badly. Even the option of a horrible keyboard is better.

I love the device, but I really really miss a physical keyboard.
