Hi all!

I recently upgraded from a 770 to a n800. My first impression is that the n800 is much less stable than the 770. It reboots randomly, applications stall or shutdown without any message.
I think we are in desperate need of a firmware upgrade!

Ton.

I don't have a 770 but my 800 is pretty much rock solid - only locked up once after I installed Canola.

Well, so far i had the lock-up after i installed Canola (like you did), mail suddenly not launching anymore (had to delete all user settings to fix that), random reboots while scanning for WiFi networks, Opera quitting without any reason, do you want me to go on? And i only got it yesterday...

I have had Opera quit many times without a good excuse. I suspect that 770 user are at a disadvantage because they know how/want to install more programs. I am sticking to the programs with the green autoinstall mainly, as they seem to be the most complete ones. And I don't take the red pill!

Odd, I've only had Opera quit on me once so far (four days of heavy use)

I had a lot of random reboots with canola installed, removed it and it's stable again

It's a common mistake to assume a unique experience is pervasive. To counter your post, I've handled thousands of N800s, personally testing a few hundred, and have encountered very few issues such as what you report. There are definitely issues, including faulty devices, but they are the exception not the norm.

Search and browse these forums for some excellent advice from very helpful and knowledgeable people.

Summary for me:
I see the reboots regularly (every other day or so), but it's always when it's idle and thus has no impact in practice on what I do. I have seen Opera go down two or maybe three times so far (1.5 months), but hey, my desktop browsers crash more often. One instance of email app refusing to start, resolved by rebooting. I have never seen a hang of any kind, and no kernel or other crashes. Most important of all, I haven't had any "aarrghh"-experiences
