Google doesn't have a communication protocol like XMPP for GoogleVoice, so the only interface I have is the web pages. I have strong concern over opting every user in to polling of the GoogleVoice website, for performance and battery-life reasons.

For Maemo 4.1 and Maemo 5 there should be an option in the "Accounts" tab to enable notification support along with how frequently you would like it to check the website. The default way of getting notified is the notification LED. The way to turn this off is refreshing the Messages tab manually

The downside is that notification support doesn't really communicate with Dialcentral such that you have to still manually refresh the Dialcentral "Messages" tab. Also, refreshing the messages tab just turns off the flashing LED, it doesn't tell the notification support in advance to not notify the user.

Did you censor your callback number or have you not set one? I'm working on improving harassing the user when they don't set a callback number.

    Very nice.

Out of curiosity, what are your top-5 things to work on/improve on for this application?

Hi epage, Would you like to do it?
I tried to install your package but had problem with dependences from maemo for AMD64. Like python-osso.

    Thank you advance

Yes, technically that is a "recommends" or "optional" but I think I had issues with Maemo not acting upon those so I had to mark them as a "depends". I'll look into this To make it easier to remember to do so, you could always file me an enhancement bug about this.

I do all of my development on Ubuntu. You can just download the source and run it directly.

If you want I can look into making a package specifically for Ubuntu.
Great, I'll use this and post an icon asap.

Callback number censored. Gizmo5 on my n800 is reporting the "callbacks" as missed.

    Re: Dialcentral 1.0.7-14

I installed this package on Debian Lenny. It works wonderfully even though I cannot seem to track down these packages:
    dialcentral depends on python-osso | python2.5-osso; however:
    Package python-osso is not installed.
    Package python2.5-osso is not installed.
    dialcentral depends on python-hildon | python2.5-hildon; however:
    Package python-hildon is not installed.
    Package python2.5-hildon is not installed.
Does anyone know if these are available?

I was really hopeful that the taskbar icon / notifications would work in debian, but they do not.

The notification option is totally grey'd out.

Would this work if I had these missing packages?

If not, do you think I could twist your arm Mr. Developer to add support for this on debian? I'm sure all of the ubuntu users would love this as well.

Thanks in advance, and i love DC on my n800.
    eric
