I've had similar experiences with the n800 and other wi-fi enabled devices. Even if I do manage to connect, it doesn't stay that way for long.
It seems that Toronto Hydro's OneZone coverage and availability is highly variable. Some report great success, while others can't get connected even within the published zones.
I simply get the dreaded "Network Connection Error".
My office is just inside their service area, so I don't get full bars on connection strength.
