Hi,
I am running a home Wifi network off Cisco Aironet AP.
I connect multiple wireless clients with WEP, and DHCP server provisioned on the router. DHCP also supplies default gateway address and DNS servers to all the clients on the network.

To get 770 going, I turned off authentication on the access point and configured 770 for DHCP.

770 locks, asscociates with the AP, gets the IP address ... but default router field is still 0.0.0.0 !

This causes a problem with no connectivity whatsover, clearly.

OK. I decided to configure static IP and try it that way.

So, the browsing behaviour is frustrating:

- it connects to one web site, then it doesnt to another.
- it sits and waits.
- sometimes it connects sometimes it doesn't !
- i can conenct to lonely planet but not bbc. google but not nytimes.

i look at the connectivity icon for indication for flapping connection, but it shows it connected all the time.

also the signal strength is at MAX.

i am ready to return it to COMP USA ! NEED ADVICE !

TIA

andrew

Well, first thing to check is what Software version you are using. Then, try taking out WEP and see if it works.

ALL THIS WITH STATIC IP ADDRESSES (DHCP doesnt work !)

I am running version 2.2005.45-7

I have noticed that the 770 browser cannot open certain websites:

bbc news, accuweather, nytimes, la times, wash post.

IT CAN OPEN however:

Nokia, Google.

Very perculiar behaviour !

Also, the radio station works no problem.

thnx andrew

I know. But which IP address do you get when 770 gets it through DHCP ?

Which gateway do you use ? Also, if you have xterm installed, what does the "route" command say ?

I upgraded FW to 5.45-8

ok,
i get the
192.168.2.103 from dhcp server (from the pool)
192.168.2.1 as the GW
255.255.255.0 as mask.

i can now access internet: radio works BUT STILL SOME ON SOME WEB SITES the browser gets stuck:

out of default bookmarks: nokia, lonely planet work no problem.

however, BBC and accuweather do not: browser says: 'connecting' in status line ... and it gets stuck.

WLAN stays up cause if i cancel the request and to say L-P it accesses it no problem !

TIA /A

So with this firmware update you got DHCP working ?

Maybe your ROUTER is acting up, not the 770. Maybe your laptop is using a proxy, and not the 770. Maybe the router has access control switched on for the 770. Maybe the laptop and the 770 don't use the same DNS...

Could you please install xterm: http://770.fs-security.com/xterm/ on your 770, and after the connection to yahoo.com fails, run the following commands: "dmesg" and "route" (you need to call "sudo /usr/sbin/gainroot" first). Then copy paste those commands outputs.

Cheers,
Samuel.
