I purchased "Ender's Game - the 20th Anniversary special edition".
It's a brilliant audio book with author comments and excellent production - strongly recommended for any sci fi fans out there.

Question is, can I give away this audio book to a friend without breaking any laws?
If I had bought a paperback I wouldn't, for some reason, thought of even asking - but with an electronic copy I guess I don't know what the rules are for audio books.

If I AM allowed to give it away legally ask me for a copy - if not, then I really recommend buying it - it really is that good.

Let your own sense of morality be your guide. Good laws are worth following, and bad laws are worth breaking.

My guess, and let me emphasis that I have not looked it up, is that if you give it away, you can give it away to one person and delete it from your files. Giving it to more than one person, and/or keeping a copy, is closer to distribution than giving away.

I would agree, as long as your not keeping a copy, and your not giving it to more than one person, it would seem legal. If you give it away to two people, or one person and keep a copy yourself, you would be surely breaking a copyright.

Can I borrow it?
It strongly depends on the country you live in. Even then, it is not always clear, what is legal what is not. I was always going with my common sense in such cases, as law will not incorporate all those small-scale situations

IMHO if your audio book was purchased on audio tapes I see no difference between it and a hard copy paperback book. If you bought a digital copy that may be a different story from a legal perspective depending on the licensing. Check out http://gutenberg.com/ where all the classics are free to all.

Sometimes you don't actually buy a "copy" of digital media, but a license to use it. Those licenses are almost always non-transferable, meaning it would be illegal to "give" it to someone else, as you don't legally own a copy in the first place--just the right to use it yourself.

You should review the packaging or EULA of the product to determine the nature of your legal rights.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

Even if the EULA reserves those rights, some aspects of copyright law suggest that such a provision would be rejected on its face. The law is very messy right now, but for an update on some of the latest news, I'd read http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/n...e-doctrine.ars
