Best Buy does have some issues, but with no re-stock fee, would be a great and local "safe' choice to try the N900 out for a few days.

I bet they would match Amazon, but tax is still and issue. I will stick to my Dell deal gamble.

On a side note, the Droid has weak sound quality- my G1 blows it away.

I need to return the Droid back to Best Buy- hence the safe choice to try devices out.

They must have gotten better about that. Last week I was in a Best Buy buying a network media player. The price online was $20 less than the price in the store. I told them at the register it should be $129.99 instead of $149.99 or whatever and they asked where I saw that price, I said "on the web site," and the cashier adjusted the price on the spot.

Good experience, actually. Usually I only buy video games there, and then only because Reward Zone is particularly good for video games. ($10 back for every $150 you buy, on top of the regular RZ points)

Their banner for the Nokia Booklet 3G is kind of sexy when you look at the N900 product page

This is (or might be) great news. In another thread I complained abou the seemingly total lack of American brick and mortar retailers carrying the N900. However, I am puzzled that searching for N900 still returns a not found message at Best Buy. One hopes this isn't just an orphaned web page recording an old possibility but instead a not fully activated web page recording a future possibility.

Well, for some reason it shows up when you look for "N900" but not when you look for "Nokia N900"

Uhm, it only seems to show up when I search from the initial entry page, not page 2 or 3 I´ve browsed to.

And the specs are wrong.

I've been checking Best Buy daily, and today is the first time the N900 showed up under their Nokia unlocked phone section. BB sells unlocked phones at retail, and they don't take pre-orders at retail, so I have been hoping to score one at a local store (you can check local store inventory online).

That's how I bought a Canon 5D Mark II DSLR right after launch when pre-orders were still a couple of months from being fulfilled. Hoping to replicate that score cause I have a feeling Nokia will take a while to meet pre-order demand based on very flaky, highly variable responses from NokiaUSA customer service. I do have a preorder in at NokiaUSA & New Egg in case I'm wrong.

it seems that they're "setting things up" as its still not showing up in there store inventory database but a freind of mine will check tomorrow. But as usual, it all comes back to Nokia sending Best Buy there allotment of phones

Me thinks in that case Nokia doesn't understand what a preorder means then. Not to mention that would mean burning bridges with big online stores like Amazon.

Why?! Best Buy is probably the leading unlocked device sellers now that CompUSA shut its brick and mortar stores. Its where you should check FIRST when looking to try a device hands on.
