I there a way to have different settings for the display settings either when running on battery or while charging? I don't want the display to dim or even switch off when the device is connected to a power source.

When I'm not surfing the web I want to use the N800 as a monitoring device or simply as a (ok, rather expensive) desktop clock

Not with the current firmware, but feel free to comment/vote on bug #1046 which is an enhancement request for Power Management Profile support.
