Okay i got pissed off with all the waiting until dec 25th. I had 150$ in amazon gift card money. I went ahead and cancelled my n900 order and ordered a ps3 slim for 226$. It will be delivered on monday.

Cant wait!

It has nothing to do with Nokia unless they decide to tell their rebate processor (um..yeah we screwed up..there's no way they could have had the n900 before the 16th). Because "Nokia to honor the rebate" just means the rebate processor will do their job (which is check to see if the form is filled out correctly, check the date on the invoice).

Therefore Amazon's opinion does matter on THEIR invoice. Since it's their invoice that will determine if you can get the rebate.
I think we're arguing the same point we're just going about it differently.

At any rate, if all pre-orders ship at the same time then its a moot point. Just pre-order from amazon and drop the newegg pre-order if you ordered from newegg before Nov 16 to be sure you get the rebate.

Great! Amazon just ran out of the N900. Maybe I can buy the one you cancelled.

I actually purchased the n900 via the DDP program for 370. I pre-ordered from amazon when the price went to 480 but since the delivery is after december 25th i think the ddp one will be here before that date. So i went ahead and cancelled and used my funds for the ps3 slim.

All right so I called Amazon just now, and the lady on the phone gave the same information you are giving spinnukur. The only dates on the rebate are the order date and the ship date.

I won't hold my breath, just wait for the device and still submit the rebate offer and see what happens. Maybe I'll submit my Credit Card statement as well showing the purchase fulfilled after the 16th, and see if nokia honors it. If they don't I'll give them a call and argue :P

No you're not. (At least I wasn't)

They authorize a charge for the full amount of the purchase + shipping, but the authorization isn't converted into a charge until the item ships.

Are Amazon still only promising delivery after 25th December?
I haven't ordered yet but if so I'll look elsewhere.

What they are saying for existing orders is:
The following item will arrive after December 25, 2009.
The item is still listed as pre-order and there is no expected delivery date offered. Those of us who have ordered with Amazon are hoping for and expecting an earlier delivery.
