Thanks for all of the hard work you have put into Google Voice on Maemo. Dialcentral is significantly better than using the website and I look forward to your One Ring project.
Do you (or anyone) know how to permanently spoof your outgoing caller ID on Maemo? This would allow us to make all calls from our GV numbers which would make dialing a whole lot easier.
I tried searching the forum for an answer but it's difficult when the search feature ignores "ID" because the word is too short.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks
I have heard about this and have bugged people to file bug reports, but no one has yet. Bug reports help keep these things on my radar. I also dislike filing them myself so others can help validate that my fix worked.

So you are referring to making a call not through Dialcentral? I do not know of a way to currently do that ... until The One Ring is complete, and then you should be able to chose to "call" through it which should make it easier to make your call through GoogleVoice. It took me a long while of using Google Voice before I got in the habit of making all of my calls through it, confusing everyone I knew with my multiple numbers.

Also, I do have maemo extra enabled.
Sorry, I subscribe to this thread but I don't get more notification emails unless I follow the link in the email which I forgot to do.

For other people wondering about this issue, Dialcentral is not yet in Maemo 5's Extras. MXN1024 was trying to use the Maemo 4.1 (OS2008) ".install" file for Maemo 5 which didn't work despite the description including "Maemo 5 support". That I can see as confusing and I just meant the app overall and not each version of the package.

Lack of testers is holding Dialcentral back from moving into Extras. Contact me if you would like information on how to become a tester.

Sorry for not being very clear but I'm talking about spoofing the outgoing caller ID at the system level so that the phone application seemingly places calls from your GV number.

Sorry, haven't had any opportunity to test the new DialCentral version. I'll try to get to it in the next few days...

On the N810, DialCentral 1.0.8-5, there would be no received sound.

Well, I look forward to your feedback once you have one

Dialcentral doesn't play any sounds, so I'm assuming you mean your SIP client rather than Dialcentral. I've heard of volume issues with Diablo 4.1's RTCom

This was nice to read
Symbian-Guru.com just previewed a great new application for Symbian-powered devices, called GoogleVoiceForS60. This application allows you to easily call or SMS through your Google Voice number from your Symbian-powered device, and there’s no doubt many of you would like this ability on Maemo. Fortunately, there is a better app on Maemo, called DialCentral. DialCentral for Maemo allows you to completely manage your Google Voice account, including incoming SMS and more. It works awesome, and is one reason my SIM card stays in the Nokia N900 more often lately.
