    N800 application manager gone?

    Hi,
I am a N800 user since 4 days, in which I just played with it trying to install various apps, all supposed to be already tested (found at maemo.org)

After installing my last trials (streamtuner and VNC server (x11vnc)) the application manager seems to be gone. When launched it says "operation not successful" (I have italian langauge so this is translated-I don't know the exact message in english OS) and it shows no installed apps, no available updates, no installable apps

But all the apps are working ok, they are in their folders, no problem at all.
It's just that now I don't know how to install/uninstall , how to update, etc.

I have ssh server installed and gained root access, so is there anything I can do by terminal?

My installed OS is the lastest available (Tablet OS 2007 Edition, version 2.2006.51-6)

thanks to anybody who can help,

    Nicola

Do you see anything in Application manager menu at Tools - Log ?

    Any error messages?

Have you tried disabling all repositories in the menu at Tools - Application Catalog

+1 on the exact same symptoms. Here are the messages in the log:

    Problem parsing dependency Depends
    Error occured while processing more-gconc-modules(NewVersion1)
    Problem with Mergelist /var/lib/only/mahwhrin.net_fbreader_maemo_dists_bora_user_binary _armel_Packages
The package lists or status file could not be opened

I presume this means the database of packages is corrupted. Anyway to delete it or receover or something?

Never mind, I got it back by deleteing the Canola catalog (which I am not using) and the FBReader catalog (which may have been causing the problem (see error list in previous post).

I came across the same problem with same messages (apt-get update in "xterm")

By disabling (after several trials) the FBreader repository everything went back to normal

Good thing FBReader kept working because that is one of my favorite apps on this device. It is an excellent medium for reading ebooks!
