Would you stop asking silly questions? =]

It's like asking if you want to divorce your hot/model wife because
she doesn't do laundry for you.

You pick N900 for its potential and the specs that in it.
Don't expect more.... right now, but in the long road you'll be happy with it.

I posted a very favorable review, but my current wifi issues with getting good connections and lag for starting pages is frustrating. Not prepared to say the "R" word, but need to figure this out.

Zoutube is an example. Nice app, but vids stop at about 30 seconds or so and never resume. When I did my review, I tested many sites, but less than a minute. Did not notice the issue until today. My other devices work fine on wifi and I am testing in the same room the router is.

Ironic to post a favorable review and then the little fellow bites me. Where is the gratitude little fella?

UPDATE:

Seems to have been fixed by changing wifi power to medium. Still get the five second-ish lag before a page i opened. Kind of reminds me of the old one-way input- high band satellite days, that used a phone line for output of signal.

That system had a site acquisition delay too.

Netbook isn't a handheld portable device is it? And yes i own one too acer AOA150 but i never find myself walking around with it, but if i do want to used it 90 sideways i can change the settings on my graphic card software to do so
ok i can see from your response you are one of those people who bought the N900 as the next big thing. clearly IF YOU PAID ATTENTION and read about the device.....it was never stated to be used in potriat mainly...if you read any review on the device all bloggers state this basically "the device isnt meant to be used in potriat and its only calling that uses portriat...."
How can you then say a feature is missing when it was never implemented? thats like saying i bought a car but i cant sail it...yes both are vehicles/means of transportation but if you actually paid attention you would realize one is meant for road/land use the other the ocean.....
read more before you come on forums to slate and "cry down" the device....this device wasnt even meant for the mass market but i can guarantee so many people will be on these forums like you complaining that it "doesnt work...."

I brought the n900 knowing it didn't do portrait mode, and yes i read about stuff before i buy it so don't just assume, But who is to say a internet table can not be used in portrait mode?

It's a internet tablet with phone features so why is it so bad to have something that a phone would have *texting in portrait mode*? And that i do consider a missing feature of this device, from what i know this might be add in a firmware update in the future.

I don't need to be like u and sit around trying to read every article about the device when i own the n900 myself. Being an owner of a n900 i do have the rights to want whatever features that is possible with an update even if i choose to use it or not. Why would nokia add the extra features when we the customer don't speak up?

Yes i LIKE going to new big better things untill i find something that i'm happy with. And i didn't say i didn't like my n900, but if ur happy with a phone just as a phone then go get a free phone or computer as a computer then get a actual desktop/laptop. I for one want something different and that's why i paid 630USD for my n900.

I got mine yesterday and have been abusing it for hours. While I type this on the phone I am downloading apps.
I was worried by all the problems reported on here but I shouldn't have been. This is an amazing device everything works and nothing has crashed. I could not be more happy. After playing with it I would disregard a lot of the negativity on here. This feels like a very stable, mature and powerful device. Nothing important is missing and I expect Nokia will have a very healthy future with this device.
I think its key sucesses are:
  • The browser is simply awesome! No compromise.
Being able to multitask is amazing. Its like finding you have an extra dimension to work in.

Oh and potrait mode, I struggle to see what the fuss is about who uses a laptop in potrait mode. I could but why would I. The only thing that needs to be in portrait is the phone and it is.

hmmmm i seem to have woken up in a world that isn't perfect? oh no wait, i'm sorry nothing ever is

This device is incredible, sure it's "rough around the edges" to quote nokia, but i'd rather have potential, than "locked down, works well but doesn't satisfy" feeling everytime i use it

Mine seems to be super stable having no reboots in 3 days, permanently on, nokia messaging, GPS, 29hrs on one charge etc etc

Sure there are menus i find a little frustrating, but at the end of the day if this is what every new(ish) platform, semi-mainstream phone started out as i'd be wishing my life away waiting for the next upgrade option rather than making the most of what i have today

if you answer yes to this vote, i'd suggest doing more research before buying a new device next time... you surely had enough time between announcement and hitting the shelves :-)

Nothing better out there, N900 is pretty unique in what it is - the openness, power and resolution and in the size category.

No way I am returning it.

I will never return this device. After some 2 sleepless days of learning totally new user interface I'm really like this device. Even with some bugs and shortcomings, its an awesome device. And nobody is perfect. Look, iPhone had no clipboard for a while and still has been popular. Nokia is much smarter in this regard. Not to mention much better on-screen keyboard and hardware keyboard, decent camera, etc. As for me that's a truly unique device. It haves power to converge all communications in one place and much more than that. I got in sync with Exchange. I got in sync with old phone. Etc, etc. All in one place! That's awesome. And that's most integrated device ever, I guess.
