Anyone know any good places to buy some replacement lithium-ion batteries for the N800. I searched (BP-5L 1500 mAh) on ebay, but I only got sellers from China/Hong Kong selling non origonal ones at 1300 mAh.

If you want the actual Nokia battery, you should just buy it via Nokia. There have been reports of non-Nokia batteries blowing up in their devices. It's a lot more expensive, but you get the peace of mind knowing that it won't explode. I guess not exploding is a good thing.

Of course to play the devil's advocate there have been plenty of name-brand batteries exploding as well. One of the generic BP-5L batteries I bought from eBay actually contained a Sony cell internally. The generics may just be off-spec brand name cells-- but then who knows? If you're not risk-averse you can shop around and find a seller that seems to provide quality products. I didn't have that much of a problem finding 1500 mAH cells either. Obvious Disclaimer If your n800 blows up and sets your house or pants on fire, don't come crying to me.

I got one called MaxCell and it "claims" to be 1900mAh... I bought it off eBay from a german seller... I also have 2 original Nokia 1500mAh batteries... I have not done any offical tests but they all seem to last about the same... around 3 hours of constant use with screen on brightest... I wouldn't go any lower than 1500mAh.

I got two alien batteries on ebay and they seem perfectly fine. I bought a battery charger also, and it came with a Nokia battery or else a wonderful forgery, with the fingerprint design (I call it) and everything. All from Asia. No exploding batteries yet!

While it's true that both name-brand and fake batteries have a tendency to explode, at least you have someone to complain to when a name-brand battery goes thermonuclear! Nobody in Hong Kong is going to give a rats @rse when their knock-off $6 battery destroys your $400 device, or worse...

There's a lot of variation in what capacity is claimed from essentially the same battery.. when I was shopping around for a replacement battery for my Palm PDA the exact same battery was sold as 1050, 1100, 1200, 1300 and 1500 mAh. The correct capacity turned out to be somewhere around 1100 mAh, but the capacity can actually vary a lot - at least 10-15% from battery to battery.
