Hmm, another one I'll have to vote on.. I just realised I probably won't be able to transfer calls to another phone without this working.

I stumbled on this last night and thought it was interesting.

    http://github.com/adammck/pygsm

It's a python module to send commands to a gsm device. It can send and receive sms, send AT commands, and other stuff.

You're wrong... You can do this going in Menu->Settings->Telephone.

PS: I translate the Menu names from Italian to English without verifying them... Maybe their wrong, therefore use the imagination ;-)

I have to check that when I get the device, but with my operator I currently do this by sending a *nn# code. It would be strange if there's a setting in the phone which can automatically send the right code that my operator uses.

Are you saying you're able to produce the expected outcome by using #646# for instance or any other GSM codes? Almost everybody that received the device have this problem so it would be strange if you don't have the problem.

Maybe we're talking about different things? What I really meant when I said 'transfer calls' is when I tell the operator (that is, the carrier) that any incoming calls to this phone shall instead be diverted to another phone number. The call doesn't touch my phone at all. To 'transfer a call' as in receiving a call then forwarding to another phone would be something else.

Yes, every Nokia phone, includind Symbian, has this feature embedded in the menu. Just follow Menu -> Settings -> Phone and there you'll find the divert calls options, as in any other phone. Just follow those wizard type setup and your calls will be diverted directly from the operator, not touching your phone. It send the same signals as you do in *xxx# to the network. The direct functionality, from the keypad is not yet implemented, tho it seems that thru the menu, this feature is available.

The problem resides for other operator services as cost control and load prepaid sims.
