I am trying to find out whether it's possible to develop N900 apps that use Ovi Maps.
I assume it's theoretically possible to create a Qt app in Qt4.6 that uses QtWebKit to drive the Ovi Maps API, but currently the OVI maps player doesn't support Linux so it won't run on Maemo. Also, when I go to OVI maps website on the N900, it tells me that Maemo is not supported and I should use the native N900 app.
Does that mean it is not possible to develop Ovi map apps for the N900 as things stand? If this is the case, then I guess we just have to wait for the Ovi Maps plugin to support Linux which surely must be a priority for Nokia, right?
Or maybe Nokia are planning to open up the native Maemo Ovi maps player so it can be used in other apps?
