Nokia Italy (together with Forum Nokia) is planning a developer event for ealry 2010, and I don't see why we can't combine those as things are still under definition. So once we have this critical mass I can take it up from the Forum Nokia side..
Hi,
do we have an update on this? If the Maemo Italian Week end is a joint event with the Forum Nokia one, then I think we don't have to look around for a place where to do it.
On the other hand if the Maemo event will be independent then there's a need for a venue and we need to decide where and when to do it.

Aniello
Might I suggest Salerno as the site of the event, I am president of the Linux Users Group of the University of Salerno and I've already made them several events, I am also part of the Italian KDE users community (kdeitalia.it) and I have contacts with the Italian QT users community (qt-italia.org).
The event could be done within the medieval Castle of Salerno, which offers a picturesque backdrop, and a conference hall inaugurated for less than 6 months.
I've spoken on the phone with Gian-Luca Cioletti of Forum Nokia a few days ago.
There is, of course, lots of interest in organizing this event.
The Forum Nokia event seems to happen too close (beginning of March) to be able to organize a joint event with ours and Gian-Luca thinks it would be best to aim at the beginning of April for the Maemo one.
The location for the two-days Forum Nokia event seems to be Milan (pretty expensive for us I think).
Two days is also too little, I think, for the Maemo event. Three sounds better.
Thus, I would push for a three-days (four?) Maemo event somewhere where we can attract as many people as possible from Nokia, the people already in the Maemo community, Qt people and of course new Maemo users.

I didn't know they were opening a conference hall in there.
Do you know how many rooms are there and how many people each room can accomodate?
Without this information we can't even think to add it to the list of possible choices.
In the castle there is a single room with 150 seats, but within the university I have the ability to use different rooms, each of which can accommodate from 200 to 500 people.
I can also use the auditorium of the university (2 rooms, approximately 400 seats each).
If we follow the Barcelona count, there were a bit over 150 people attending the whole event.
Each room had space for 50-70 people each and there were three parallel tracks.
I suggest Torino. It's 55 minutes far from italian best connected airport Malpensa and there are two universities which can give support and space for the event. Plus, there are really lots of groups focused on open source and linux.
