I've written a little tutorial on how to install and use mmapper and sqlite3 for newbies (like myself). This is still a first draft so I would welcome suggestions and corrections.

It also covers how to take existing waypoints that you have from some other gps and install them into the POI database.
I still want to add something on using flite and on planning routes.

Anyone one know if it is possible to download VE/Google maps on pc and then transfering them onto a memory card for maemo mapper to use.

Nik, try the WINMAPPER applet here http://ioan-web.homeip.net/avraam/files/winmapper1.zip. I use it for large areas.
