When I open up media player...it shows my HTPC at the bottom of the screen but when I click on it, it does not show any files. I have already shared my mp3 folder on the HTCP but still no luck.

    Any suggestions ?

Wrong kind of sharing. You're sharing over SMB/CIFS protocol on the HTPC. Look for a setting to turn on UPnP/DLNA.

    Is this Windows Media Center?

Use orb, and turn on the upnp in settings. That'll give you acces to everything on your LAN, music, videos an pictures, right in the N900 media player.
On top of that, you can use mycast.orb.com to access your media in a ery cool media center front end, right in your N900 browser, anywhere in the world.
