...for future reference, a summary that actually explains the problem is highly welcome. The current one is just vague.

When did you charge your battery, did you wait till the battery was completely dead, or did you start charging it when it was just low?

Since the resolution is higher, watching it in full screen will stretch the video more than the iphone. Since you mentioned that higher quality videos are fine, higher quality videos are basically higher resolution videos. The higher resolution will mean the video is stretched less when played full screen. As for desktop computers, the monitor is placed much further away than you holding onto your phone.
Increasing the browser cache has been reported to improve video playback from web pages.

Folks, adjust the browser cache to 40mb and play Flash video in full-screen mode. Almost all videos have a full-screen button at the bottom right corner. You will need the stylus to activate it (unless you have pin fingers), but the videos play smoother and in higher res.

When embedded, the content is in lower resolution and zooming will only make it look worse.

I charge the phone overnight when the phone/battery was completely dead. I personally never charge the battery unless it's completely dead, dead to the point where it can't turn the phone on.

A battery gets hotter when allowed to completely drain. Also, when you start to charge a completely dead battery, it has a very low internal resistance so that initially it gets hot when charging. Heat is one of several things that eventually kills batteries. Buy an extra battery and pop it in before your battery goes dead.

Also, avoid leaving your NIT in a hot vehicle, and it is best to store spare batteries in a cool place.

lithium-ion batterys shouldn't be completely drained, it reduces the life of the battery.

can anyone else confirm increasing browser cache to 40mb makes youtube videos play like they would on a iphone?

Thanks Ghule for the search tip, I didn't know you can do searches in Zoutube app. On another note, is there a way to make the videos play in full/entire screen mode? I noticed if you double tap it will increase the video size little bit, but was wondering if there is a way to play the video on the entire screen.

Yep. I can confirm that microb flash player uses bad quality setting or flash/display drivers are not very well optimized. Comparing zoutube, microb and my computer screen (1024x768) with same youtube clip it looks worst on microb and then zoutube and then no pixelation on my 1024x768 win xp sp3 flash 10. It looks like there is no smoothing or anti-aliasing on microb. Especially text is quite terrible. I do not have time right now but if someone wants pictures with big red boxes showing the "problem", i can do that.

So whoever says everything is fine is in some sort of self denial or needs new glasses or maybe has never ever seen flash on windows. Just kidding :P

I remember my N800 used to show youtube fluently in high quality. Obviously Youtube itself has become more demanding on hardware than it used to.
