Can you remove the media player widget from the desktop, and then re-add it. Re-test for this behaviour after doing that. Since upgrading to the sales release (1.2009.42-11), I have not seen this happen. But I am looking out for it so that I can add any further information to bug 5894.

same here... i knew it was a but. Only way to resume play was to actually go open the media player and play from there.

"guys, this stuff is not supposed to work! its a mobile computer, not a smartphone/media device"

i'm waiting for someone to even try and use that as an excuse.

so this bug was filed in oct 29, 2009. And they never thought of FIXING it before releasing this damn phone? isn't this what the one month delay was for? to fix broken stuff?

I also have this problem where the player widget doesn't play, but previous and next song buttons work. I got the newest firmware, so not sure what's up.

The work around for now is that I can delete the media player widget on the desktop and re-add the widget back. It works fine again...not sure how long it will remain workable though.

+1 play button stops working after a while, latest UK firmware came with device. Removing then readding widget works, but then eventually stops working again.

It hasn't been removed in any way. Just marked as a duplicate.
(This allows everybody to focus and keep things together.)

And please: use question marks sparingly, looks not so good
