First: I don't recommend doing this if you are a noob without Linux experience.

But what it means is got to xterm (press ctrl+shift+x for example) and type for example the command: apt-get install offscr-solitaire

It fetches the package from an online repository and installs the application. Instructions for adding the required OVI repository are earlier in this thread.

Do not do this unless you understand what you are doing, so please Google and research this beforehand!

First you must install rootsh, to get root accses in the x terminal.
If you have rootsh go to x term an type:

    root
    apt-get install offscr-solitaire

or offscr-speedometer for the other appli

i've installed both cube and solitaire. Are these optified?
As ever, once it's official, I'll uninstall and re-install the official one, makes it easier for updates.

I think you are right about that. As I understand it the N97 is Nokia's Flagship device...

I'm not sure, I've installed a few of them and now trying another and it says not enough disk space.

Well, I'm seeing their files in /opt/offscr*... However, when you use apt-get, be sure to check your /var/cache/apt/archives for any leftovers...
