Hello Maemo,

Just got my N900 and aside from having issue with battery life (anyone know if there is an app to check for battery draw?), I'm really having a problem getting the mail client to work.

My issue is with yahoo mail. I pay for my mail account. ($20 a year)

My settings in the phone are:

plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
SSL
995

plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
SSL
Secure Auth
465

I know these settings are correct as there the same on all my other desktop machines.

However, the phone keeps telling me that either the server or port number is wrong and cannot connect?

Anyone know what the deal is? I thought it might be since i'm in germany at the moment, it's expecting me to go through the .de servers?

Anyone able to use their yahoo mail account via pop3 on their N900?

Thanks!

delete the account and try and connect using Nokia messaging as the service provider. much better as all you have to enter is your yahoo email address and password and your mails are pushed to you.

Thanks mikec, this works. However, I recieved a message from Nokia indicating that this service was a trial, and that after the trial period (length not indicated) it would cost money to continue. Since I pay for my yahoo account, and pop3 is availible and works, I would really like to figure out why the phone which is advertised as being able to do pop3 cannot be setup probably.

I know others are having this problem as well. I would really to access my yahoo mail via pop3 and not through a nokia service.

Thanks again!

you can also do this. In the account set up, service provider list, make sure that you scroll down the list. yahoo and blueyonder are already there. its not obvious that you can scroll this list.

dont worry about the trial. its been a trial forever, and depends on your mobile operator rather than Nokia. most mobile operators are likly to give this away if you are on a 3G type INTERNET contract.
