i used to own n800 and n810, it was ok to use it as internet tablet.
my mobile is Google G1 , and i was so happy with it , till i decided to upgrade to unofficial ROM, and brick my phone
so i decided to go with the new n900 ,
but its not what i expected
i cant check my email , even after setting up the account , i still cant see new emails .
email client is so basic and missing to many things.
and since my job is to be in touch with my clients for 16 hrs a day , i really need a good email client
i really miss k9 androids email cient.

have you looked at this yet. then perhaps you can post how you are trying to get email.

What's wrong with the mail client? I know for me it has issues with IMAP but other than that it seems to function.

the only thing I miss with the built in mail client is that it doesn't copy sent mails into my "sent mails" folder on my server.

There shouldn't be any problem with the email client, you are probably doing something wrong.

If you want anyone to help, you need to give more detail of your email setup. Just saying it doesn't work isn't enough. It should be easy to sort out. I've had no problems managing 3 email accounts with my N900.

I used K-9 since it was in beta. It's definitely the best email client for Android, but I like Maemo's Modest mail better. They're actually very similar to use. Modest has about the same features as K-9, but Modest has a slicker UI.

i am trying to setup 2 gmail accounts and one private email.
i did enable IMAP , and i can connect to my email account, but it wont check my email unless i open the email client.

And you did configure it under settings to autocheck?

I can check my email just fine.
Probably user's fault not setting it up correctly rather than device's fault.
