I have found thumbnailerd hammer the cpu too for several minutes (so not crashed) but I had taken a few photos recently. It did seem extreme to hammer the cpu for minutes though until I need those thumbnails.

    Any ideas?

    P.S. - VERY COOL though!
I am not quite sure what you are saying, .... anyhow, WorldTV99 is putting videoes on the tablet and that is where our goal, good stuff, bad stuff, spams, honestly, it is the channel's responsibility. They all are putting things they think are the best reflection of their channel and catch attentions. On and off, some channels start with playing good stuff when I screen them, but then they put on programs list/spams instead of videoes. You report, we will take the channel down.

You think this is cool, thanks, me too. In my family, kids speaks French/Spanish/English/Chinese/Arabic....they are thrilled with this program :-) And the old cartoons and animation channel playing original mickymouse/donald ducks of the '40s.... Glad you found it useful

I figured out what it was doing. It is attempting to play the video on the list, failing to find a stream, and then going quickly to the next one on the list.

This is why it appears to be freaking out running down the list really fast when I select a particular channel.

If you pick a channel that does not have a working stream, then it goes on to the next one. In the case of the Discovery Channel (and now many others that I have found) it will keep trying the next link in the list until it finds one that works.

I found out the USA Channels VCURLs72 all seem to work - which is kinda nice - pity there is no CNN headlines in that one.

Well - When I say all - I mean some

Try the discovery channel ones - the NBC nightly news with Katie. I have the player set to osso and dont bother changing it since the ones that can be viewed using the mplayer setting as the player seem few and far between - cant say I will use the feature often (though would if more worked) but goof for a 5 min time waster.

Personally I cant stop playing with the shake media controller -(extras devel) Shake to advance to next song - exactly what I needed.

I noticed 2 minutes ago that the UK BBC HeadLineNews site show short banner video telling the service has changed and need to update the link.

Maybe because I'm trying to stream over AT&T's Edge network.

    Wow it works!

Would someone take the trouble to vote to get WorldTV99 out of testing, please?

    Thank you,

To distinguish TV from "video streaming" is TV has 'timely' news and advertisement.

How old are WorldTV99 TV news?
I am now watching ABC worldnews webcast, it is talking about TigerWood's question of stereoid use and octopus using tools, the 1st invertebrate species using tool. Go google news, this is exactly the news google is doing on its website. And this are the news I just watched 4 hrs ago on my TVset. If Google internet news called it news, the 4 hrs delayed WorldTV99 is playing broadcasting news. I repeat, WorldTV99 is playing broadcasting news. BTW, this station is constantly update and running 24/7, better than your ABC news from your TV set which does only lunch and evening news. WOW!

Advertisement? Sure there are shopping channels on Canada folder.

WorldTV99 is playing broadcasting news, just as timely as internet news, and has advertisements, this is rightfully called TV.

I am watching with the built-in player (not mplayer). while doing some homework, it has been running over 30 minutes, news onchoreman has changed 2 times already, no stuttering, no frozen, no AV desync, no battery problem, NO PROBLEM. I cannot believe this thing called N900!
This is only the tip of iceberg, NBC, CBS, FOX, DisneyChanel, Discovery, Nature., no need for video converting, no need for file dl or storage, in my hand while I am in bed. This is MY entertainment center. TV out is my next adventure. With the number and variety and world region of TV stations, it would be a long time before I grew tire of this

Find me a competitor, softwarewise and hardwarewise...........today

Another thing about "dead links", 1) regional, it is not for your region, say USA watching european stations, that may require a european ip address
    2) regional, it is not at your timeframe and the station is not running 24/7, say China is 11 hr difference from USA and you would have a better chance seeing it when it is midnight in US.
    3) it is for the "other" player
etc etc, We intend to build some intelligence into WorldTV99 to take care of the above. For the time being, Favorite is your friend, any good station you like just add it to Favorite.

    Using built-in gstreamer

Some good quality stations with wide screen and no borders: FOX news Flash
