Hi,
My dad can't read the text off his N800. I tired changing themes, yet still some text is too small. how can I make the default font larger and the contrast better?

Are you talking about in a browser? What's he using it for?

I assume he means the general fonts of the device.
I've actually been wondering this as well, I guess it would involve editing some configuration files by hand...

Anyone know if the files are the ones in /etc/fonts/ ?
and what should be edited to change the size of the fonts?
or maybe it has to do with the themes /usr/share/themes

thanks

Whatever you do, don't buy your dad an N900.

A possible start is editing the current theme's gtkrc and increasing the font sizes in there.

This one tickles me to death :-)

Try to install Conky, it has quite some interesting and useful system info, but the font size, OMG, I have to give undivided attentions, steady my unsteady hand, gawk at it minutes and minutes try to read size #4 on a 3.5 inch screen.......My wife sitting across from me on the dinner table complimented, "it is a beautiful patern...who can draw it so straight?" The fonts are so small, she thought it is a painting

hi niv,
show your dad how to enlarge the font (use the magnifying glass symbol in the bottom right corner). as long as the browser window remains open the font will stay at that size. increasing the backlight value will also help.

Install the "Configuration Editor" known as the gconf-editer in Linux packages. I can't insure you'll find what you need there but it gives access to configuration parameters you can't get to with the tablet GUI.
