recently i got low space warning, it might because i installed some testing app, but also, i wonder it might because i got lots of emails with attachments each day. I just want to ask which partition did my sms and emails go to normally? is there any way that i can assign a folder in a larger partition to save them? thanks a lot.

it's in the same partition as /opt - mounted under /home ... thus if you waste the 2GB /opt offers, it may cause unfortunate side-effects for already-installed apps too (as almost all user-configuration is placed in /home/user/ ...)

i'd love to have a word with guys, who pushed the current partitioning into mainstream...

thanks for you prompt reply. Does it mean it just have 2GB for emails and attachments? If it does, i may need to delete my emails regularly . Is there any way i can use the bigger partition (the one has 25G free space) to as mainstream ?

well, the mail app used in maemo5 seems to be "modest" ( http://modest.garage.maemo.org/ ) - which apparently stores mail to /home/user/.modest ... so yep - (2GB - size of installed apps) is maximal amount of space for mails...

you could do repartition disk - by decreasing size of the FAT partition (mounted at /home/user/MyDocs), but it's not trivial:
