Hi Guys,

My first post here quick question, very interested in the n900 and none of the bad reviews have put me off! I'm of the opinion most people gripes were from reviews of pre production models and bugs found in brand new release (such as portrait mode and battery) hopefully sound like they've already been fixed or will be shortly in the Christmas update.Plus the pro's far out weigh the cons.

Anyway I was pondering going for the milestone or htc hd 2 but have decided on the n900, my question is although vodaphone are only operator at mo (im in the uk btw), who do you think would be best to go with as i'll prob look to upgrade or buy it sometime in Jan?

I've been looking at 3 and am currently with 02 (reckon i can get some free bolt ons with upgrade), any opinions on supposed "unlimited internet" usage as well? I have to admit i havent upgraded my phone in a long time as i concentrated more on my netbook and desktop but this device looks too good to pass up on ( although ill prob be annoyed in 6 months when the maemo 6 model comes out!) and currently have an old school samsung D600!

I havent used "3" before but im guessing their sims will work with a n900 if brought separately?

cheers

My Girlfriend has the htc hd2 its very pretty but one mighty pain in the arse, so i decided on the n900 via MPD (mobile phones direct) 24 month contract unlimited text, internet and 600 minutes for £35

The N900 OS is not a fancy to look at but certainly better im just waiting for this fw update so its more functional

I've been using mine on t-mobile payg, mostly because if you top up 10 GBP, you get month's free internet (for the next calendar month).

It does 3G, but not 3.5G I think, but that's fine for what I use it for (browsing a few web pages on the way to work mostly.. Guess which site )

This has been working well for me until just this morning. Suddenly it won't connect at all! I'll be asking them about it shortly, and post back the resolution, if any.

Oh, and since this about the UK, there's a whole thread on n900 uk networks. Maybe this should be merged into it.

Edit: Ok, talked to tmob tech support, changed the username and password (from the one their config-by-sms had initially set up), restarted the phone, and all is well.
