I'll give it a try tomorrow -- I've never created a wiki page before.

I re-read your post.... i didnt read it clearly.... so i ned to run the command as a user and not as root....

"tracker-process -r" in the terminal (as user, not root)?

It works... the deleted files were gone.
Im sorry my bad there... i run the command as root and i try running it as a user and it works...

To get my art on the phone i named everything and got art from wmp, i then loaded it all into ovi music which converted the art to a format mobiles could use, i then loaded music back into wmp and synced it with the phone, i now have art for all my 160 albums on the phone.

Okay, this may be a dumb question, but:

How do I create a new page on the wiki? I see a link on the right side for editing the current page, but nothing for making new pages.

One method (which I am currently using) is to name the cover art "cover.png" (replace png with the proper file extension if you are not using PNGs) and leave it in the directory with the music. The only downside that I have seen is that the art shows up in the image viewer (aka "Photos").

Note that if the music has already been indexed by the N900's tracker, you probably need to move the directory to somewhere that tracker does not index (I believe the "tmp" directory should work), then move it back. You may also need to erase the tracker database before moving it back (type "tracker-process -r" from the terminal).

PS. My apologies if this has already been posted and/or documented -- I keep seeing posts saying to embed the art inside the MP3s, and it's driving me nuts!
It's the other way round for me, media player picks up album art that is standalone files, but is not picking up the embedded stuff

Sweet, I was getting sick of retagging my files with images. I tried using my existing "default.jpg", now I've got to figure out how to rename all my standalone images.

That's ironic. I don't currently have anything embedded, so I can't help out. I was thinking of embedding the art into one of my songs earlier, but I haven't gotten home to try it yet.

Maybe someone from the "just embed it in the MP3 tag" horde can offer some suggestions?

Main reason for not picking up embedded album art is because your album art has not been tagged properly. Load up the media into Media Monkey (windows) or similar tagging tool. Check the album art is tagged as "cover.front" not cover.back or other such clag that it might have acquired from the likes of itunes etc.
