On my linux box and on my android phone I use stardict dictionaries quite often.

What is the status of a stardict port to maemo 5?

It would be really nice to be use stardict dictionaries on the n900 (I am still waiting for mine to arrive).

There is https://garage.maemo.org/projects/stardict/ but it's not for the N900/Maemo5, but old N810/Maemo4 so it might not work easily.

Stardict in Qole's easy debian works beautifully in my n900, even with auto translation of highlighted words

How do you get the "auto translation" window to popup?

It Just Works (R). I didn't do anything to make it behave
Just highlight a word like in the previous version.

If you enable "scan" in the settings, a word highlighted (selected) in the browser should show you the dictionary entries (if any).
