I just released 1.41 of Media Converter (MC)

Latest version is optimized for N800 video playback as well as for the previous 770 optimizations.

Stretching problems that came with the latest N800 firmware release are gone and there is a wicked new resolution of 640x368 there.

I wrote a bit more along with some links in my blog. Check it out at:

Oh, there are two videos 30 sec previews in the blog as well. If you have a patched N800, please do try them out!

N800 Medium Quality (400x240) gives error on the N800: "unsupported video resolution".
Using the 770 MPlayer Optimal (400x240) works fine on the N800.

Using the (400x240) setting gives the converted video a "widescreen" effect, I like that.

I'll check on that tomorrow. There will probably be a new version pretty soon for bugs like that.

I would like it if the program would remember which checkboxes I have selected between uses. it remembers some of my selections, N800, Video Resolution, but it does not remember the checkboxes, 30 sec preview, Optimize for 770 etc.

Even though I select N800 as the device, MC 1.41 creates a directory called "700" - can MC use a directory N800 when converting N800 videos, and a 700 directory when converting 700 videos? Remembering preferences mentioned by Tabster would also be a good idea.

PS. Version number of 1.41 still says 1.40

Edit: Rembering properties/preferences per device would also be good, if possible (ie. remember one set of preferences for N800 and a second set of preferences for the 770).

Works like a charm for me on my Macbook Pro.
    Pretty fast too.
    Thanks for the release!
I'm able to get the entire second season of Wild, Wild West as well as Shinsen Subs on two 4GB SDHC cards using this and the quality is pretty good as well.
    No more boring flights now...

Can someone please explain in detail the specific steps that are needed to use this program to convert a DVD of TV's shows to files that can be viewed on my N800? I can't seem to figure out what intermediate steps are necessary. THANKS!

ssvb let me know that resolution 512x288 is even better balance between stunning and smooth playback. I'll try to put together a new release today that contains that resolution. Frame rate will still have to be capped a bit, but it will work much smoother than 640x384.
