Hello,

trying to follow the instructions here:

http://wiki.maemo.org/Documentation/devtools/maemo5

looks like the repo is in the app manager, yet I can't:

apt-get install syslog as root?

Is there anything else I need to do?

/etc/apt/sources.list is empty but in the app manager everything is there...

Thanks for any help.

follow the link to syslog from the page you mentioned. you'll see that it's actually called "sysklogd", and "apt-get install sysklogd" works as expected
btw, you probably also want "klogd".

no problem!

a word of caution, though:
if i remember correctly (i deinstalled it again), the location for the log files stays default in /var - so if you do enable log facilities, you could possibly fill up your root partition, which could render your device bricked!

either remember to deactivate sysklogd when you don't need it, or change the log file location before using it!
