Go to application manager go to downloads, click the middle top to get the menu, click refresh.

No joy still dude. Don't know what the problem could be. All I know is that when I refresh it takes about 5-10 mins and at the end i get "some applications partially refreshed", and when I click "details" it lists nokia applications and Nokia sofware updates.

??

Basically this is the problem I have:

When I go into app manage, I click on update. This takes about 5 mins to update but then I get the "some applications failed to refresh". So when i click in the application catalogues the maemo extras, extras testing and the extras devel repositories are all working fine, but the bottom two, namely "Nokia Applications and Nokia System Software updates" catalogues has the "failed to refresh" beside them with the (!) icon before it in red?

If i click either of these none working catalogues i get the catalogue details(which are filled in correctly) but at the bottom is some red text with "resolving host timed out: downloads.maemo.nokia.com"

So therefore I cannot get these to work and obviously I would like to have things working so if anyone could find out for me or point me in the right direction that would be great, as I'm a newbie when it comes to smartphone etc.

I've got a similar problem. The Application Manager can't connect to the repositories to give me any apps to download. (I've been using WiFi for this.)

It tries for a few moments, then announces "Operation Failed."

I want to throw this thing at a wall right about now.

Also, I can't get the apps I DO have to install. Stuff like AP News.

Try disabling extras-devel and extras-testing.

Neither of these should be routinely enabled. I also think there might be problems having both of them enabled at the same time, because the same package might somehow be in both.

There's a thread in the fremantle forum where people are having the same problem. (can't link as I never mastered copying urls on n900). I wonder if there isn't some activity in the Nokia repositories in advance of the ovi shop opening?

you might want to check out what people are saying there.

if you're talking about the same thread i posted in, there precious little help there either. still no joy.

have already sent a panic email to nokia. not being able to sync the repositories is like having an iphone with no app store.

As was already suggested, try disabling wifi and doing a refresh (just open App Manager, click 'Update') using your data connection instead. I never trust wifi much on any computer.

I just ran update on all my repositories without a hitch, so I doubt the repositories themselves are at fault.
